Australia host Wales in the final match of their two-test series. The first was played last weekend with Australia winning the match 25-16. Now the second match is being played in Melbourne and Wales need to win just to level the series.
A win for the Welsh side would be a very welcome one. The pressure is on their head coach Warren Gatland and one look at the world rankings explains why. They are now 11th in the rankings and that's the first time they've ever dropped out of the top ten.
Eight games have been played since the last win, last beating Georgia in October 2023. That's closing in on the record worst run of ten in 2002/03. Wales have an inexperienced squad and will need the summer and autumn internationals to prepare themselves for the 2025 Six Nations.
A win would be important though as eight of the 23 who were in the squad last week are yet to be on a winning side for Wales. Gatland has lost 14 of the 20 games played since he began his second stint with Wales.
Australia have a new coach Joe Schmidt and he played an inexperienced side against Wales last week. He will be delighted with the win as there had only been time for five training sessions before taking on Wales.
The hosts have played Wales 13 times at home and won 12 of them. You have to go back to 1969 for the only Welsh win. The wait for another victory will continues and we tip Australia to win this and lead at both half and full time.
