Australia’s preparations for the 2027 Asian Cup start at home with a friendly against five-time World Champions Brazil on Friday – the first of the two between these sides. This match at the Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville between the Socceroos and the Selecao could be an exciting encounter with our match prediction favouring BTTS.
The Socceroos crashed out of the recent FIFA World Cup in the round of 32 at the hands of Egypt. Their preparations will be for the upcoming Asian Cup at home next January. Brazil went a step ahead in the World Cup but lost out in the round of 16 against Norway. This is one of the five away friendlies for the visitors against Asian opposition.
Australia lost just once within 90 minutes in the World Cup (W1, D2, L1), but the loss via penalties to Egypt saw them crash out of the round of 32. The Socceroos have four matches before next year’s Asian Cup, two of which are against Brazil.
A 2-1 defeat at the hands of Norway saw Brazil crash out of the World Cup at the round of 16 stage, ending their unbeaten run before that game (W3, D1). The continuation of Carlo Ancelotti gives them a chance to regroup, while three wins in their last three friendlies give them an edge.
