Third placed Atleico Madrid host Real Sociedad who are only a place below them. Atletico have secured their place in the Champions League next season. They could yet finish in second place and with two games to go, they only trail Real by a point. They would have expected to be going second when leading 3-0 at Espanyol in their most recent game. The relegation threatened side then scored three goals to get a draw. With a 1-0 loss at relegated Elche earlier this month, Atletico will be glad to be back on home soil. They have won their last eight home La Liga matches and won nine of the last ten with one draw. That makes it 12 home league wins this season. After this game the Mattress Makers travel to fifth placed Villarreal, so not the easiest of run-ins.

Real Sociedad are still battling to secure their place in next season's Champions League. They are in a strong position though, five points clear of Villarreal. If the points were to end level at the end of the season, Villarreal are ahead on head-to-head results. Sociedad are unbeaten in their last seven league matches with the last two won. That includes an away win at Barcelona who have gone downhill since securing the La Liga title. Away form has been strong this year with ten league wins. Two of their last  three league fixtures have seen both teams score. We go for that stat to come up again this weekend.
