Atalanta will seek to strengthen their chase for a top four finish with a home win against Verona next in Serie A. Placed sixth, Atalanta are eight points off the top four while Verona sit a point above the relegation zone. The hosts are still competing on three fronts and are coming off a comfortable 3-0 away win at Liverpool in the Europa League. While winning that competition guarantees Champions League football, Fiorentina are still keen on a top four finish. They are also in contention for the Coppa Italia, another avenue to European football. A win here will not lift Atalanta higher but will be key in establishing a buffer ahead of seventh placed Lazio who have played two more games. Having won seven of their last eight league matches at home, Atalanta will definitely be confident of getting three points here. Their last home league game ended in defeat though. La Dea have developed a knack for high scores in their league wins this season. In nine of their 15 Serie A wins so far, they scored at least three goals, that includes five of their last seven home league wins.

Verona were one of the few sides that didn’t concede heavily when losing to Atalanta this season. Coming here on 27 points, Verona will be desperate for a win, as they are just a point above the relegation region. Their recent run hasn’t been great, winning just twice in the last 11 outings. The visitors are without a win in the last three matches, the most recent a 2-1 home loss to Genoa. Verona will not be so enthusiastic about playing away to Atalanta as they don’t carry a great away run. This season they managed just two wins in their 17 away matches across all competitions. Their last away loss, inflicted by Bologna, was the 11 on the road this season. There has however been some improvement in their recent away matches, Verona winning four points from the last two. That was more than they gained in the earlier 13 away league games.
