Arthur Fils vs Roman Safiullin Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Wimbledon Championships

We'll have an unseeded player in the last 16 at Wimbledon. Arthur Fils takes on Roman Safiullin in the third round at Wimbledon. Whoever progresses into the fourth round will be facing either ninth seed Alex de Minaur or qualifier Lucas Pouille.

Fils was nearly seeded for this tournament and was 34th in the last ranking list. His run to this third round has seen the Frenchman move up to 31st in the live list. He's four places lower in the ATP Live Race but could get as high as 27th if winning this match.

He's playing this tournament for only the second time. At least this year he avoided a first round exit unlike in 2023. He beat Dominic Stricker in round one and then defeated seventh seed Hubert Hurkacz in round two.

He led two sets to one but then his opponent retired when it was a tie-break in the fourth set.  His grass court season is going well though, having reached the last eight in the Halle Open. 

Roman Safiullin was ranked 44th in the latest rankings but down to 67th in the live list. That's because he's defending the points earned when reaching the quarter-finals here in 2023. Safiullin has struggled to repeat that kind of form on grass this year.

He played in Stuttgart and Halle but lost his first match in both of those tournaments. He's found winning form this week with a win over 26th seed Francisco Cernundolo. He had to come from two sets down to win that match.

Round two saw him defeat Tomas Machac in four set, losing the third.  He's playing Fils for the third time and has lost both those matches. This is the first time that they have played on grass and we tip Fils to get the win.
