Ninth seed Anna Bondar and the unseeded Martina Trevisan will square off next at the Jiangxi Open. The two will battle in the second round on Wednesday. Let’s look at the preview of the match and a prediction.
Anna Bondar battled through three sets to make her way through to this round. The Hungarian defeated Arianne Hartono in the first round and by doing so, snapped a three-match skid.
She has now won 49 matches competing across all three tennis tiers. Bondar, who is now up to 90th in the live ranking, has won four titles, one in the challenger circuit. The 27-year-old defeated Trevisan on a clay surface two years ago in Budapest.
Martina Trevisan also arrived in Jiujiang in desperate need of getting back to winning ways. The Italian had lost five straight fixtures, all on hard courts, as she took to the court against wildcard Zheng Wushuang.
She snapped this streak with a convincing straight sets win. Trevisan, who has moved 11 places to 125th in the live ranking, has struggled all season with her form.
She has compiled a disappointing 21-31 record and has only once won back-to-back main draw matches at tour level. A win for her here will set up a clash against Rebecca Sramkova or Wei Sijia in the quarter-finals.
