The qualifier Andrea Pellegrino is having a strong week at the Chile Open and has made it to the quarter-finals, where he will battle second seed Luciano Darderi. This is their third career meeting. Read on for our prediction of this match. 

Andrea Pellegrino has won four consecutive fixtures this week. This streak has seen him shoot up 13 places in the live ranking to 124th. 

The Italian defeated seventh seed Francisco Comesana to set up this showdown with Darderi. He won in three sets with the match lasting almost three hours. Pellegrino, who has predominantly competed on clay courts this year, has compiled an 8-4 record. 

Luciano Darderi has also won eight of 12 fixtures in 2026. The recent victory came via a decider against Mariano Navone in the second round. 

Darderi had lost back-to-back matches coming into Santiago, where he is making his third appearance. After finishing as runner-up in Buenos Aires, Darderi was ousted in the first round in Rio. 

The world number 21 is a clay court specialist and has won four tour titles on such surfaces. He has also never lost against Pellegrino, winning both meetings on clay, with the most recent win securing him the 2024 Genova Challenger.
