Katie Boulter, the second seed in Hong Kong, is through to the quarter-finals where she will play the unseeded Anastasia Zakharova. We have a preview and prediction for this Friday match.
Anastasia Zakharova has been in devastating form for the last two weeks. She won her last 12 matches, battling in and outside the tour. This streak has yielded two ITF titles and her maiden tour quarter-final.
To advance to the last eight here, Zakharova, who is yet to lose a set in Hong Kong, defeated seventh seed Varvara Gracheva. She has improved her record to 37-19 and moved to 104th in the live ranking, a new career high for her.
Katie Boulter has also not lost a set in Hong Kong. She defeated Wang Xiyu to progress to her fifth quarter-final of the year. Boulter, who has won two tour titles this year, is debuting in Hong Kong.
Her performances this week have seen her improve her record to 34-21. The world number 29 arrived at this event after making it to the semi-finals in Tokyo. She has registered 22 of her total wins on hard courts and lost 11 times also on such surfaces.
The winner here will play Yuan Yue, Sofia Kenin or Jessica Ponchet in the semis.
