The winner of this match will be up against either the ninth seed Paula Badosa or unseeded Katerina Siniakova. Amanda Anisimova is 41st in the live rankings and has reached one quarter-final this year. That was in Hobart and could have gone further but the American withdrew from the match.

In the Australian Open, Anisimova lost in round two to Emma Raducanu. This is her first tournament since that defeat.

These two players have shared their two meetings. Only one was on an outdoor hard court and Azarenka won that in three sets two years ago.

Victoria Azarenka has only won one of her three matches this year. That was in her first match of 2025 as she beat Maya Joint in three sets. That has been followed by losses to Marie Bouzkova and Lucia Bronzetti.

Four of her last five matches have ended in defeat. It was a difficult end to 2024 for her after sustaining an injury in Guadalajara in September. Not since August of last year has Azarenka reached a quarter-final. We tip Anisimova to win this match.
