Which of these two unseeded players will reach the Berlin Open semi-final? Amanda Anisimova reached the final at Queen's Club last week and on Friday she takes on Liudmila Samsonova in this grass court tournament. Read our match prediction below.
Anisimova is at 13th in the live rankings and will move up to 12th if defeating Samsonova. The American has made an excellent start to the 2025 grass court season after failing to qualify for Wimbledon last year.
The Queen's Club final was reached but she came up short against Tatjana Maria. Whoever wins this match will face either eighth-seed Paula Badosa or qualifier Wang Xinyu for a place in the final.
This week has seen the 24-year-old beat Bianca Andreescu and Magdalena Frech, the latter in three sets.
Liudmila Samsonova trails Anisimova 2-1 in previous meetings but this is their first grass court match. The Russian is 19th in the live rankings and caused a shock in the last round when beating third-seeded Jessica Pegula in a 201 minute marathon three-setter.
Samsonova also had a long match in round one as she came from a set down to defeat Naomi Osaka. Now another tough match looms for the Russian and we believe that Anisimova can get the win.
