15th placed Almeria can confirm their La Liga status with a home win over 18th placed Real Valladolid. The home side are only a point above their opponents who are in the relegation zone. It's their away form that has put Almeria in this situation. They have only earned seven away points all season, compared to 32 at home. Home form is going to be needed again to keep them out of the bottom three, especially as their final match is at 19th placed Espanyol. Almeria's most recent game saw them lose 1-0 at Real Sociedad but before that they'd beaten Mallorca 3-0. That was their third home win in the last four league games. It's tight for two of the relegation places (Elche are already down) with only five points between 13th and 19th. 

Real Valladolid boosted their hopes of survival with a shocking 3-1 home win over champions Barcelona. The away side had already clinched the title so unlike Almeria, they didn't have much to play for. That win means 'Pucela' begin the penultimate matchday of the season in the bottom three on the same number of points as Gefafe and Cadix. Before the win over Barcelona, Valladolid had lost five games in a row, all with at least two goals conceded. Away form has also been disappointing with six of the last eight lost.
