An unseeded player is guaranteed to progress to the fourth round of the Miami Open. Fabian Marozsan takes on Alexei Popyrin in round three of this outdoor hard court tournament. The winner will face either the ninth seed Alex de Minaur or the 24th seeded Jan-Lennard Struff. Marozsan caused an upset in the second round when beating the sixth seeed Holger Rune in straight sets. Even better, he managed to get that surprise win for the loss of just two games. That success followed a first round victory over qualifier Aleksandar Kovacevic in straight sets with five games dropped. Those two wins have taken Marozsan (who's playing in this Masters 1000 event for the first time) up to a career high 50th and can rise another three places if beating Popyin.

Alexei Popyrin is in the third roud of this tournament for the first time in his career. To get to this stage he's had wins over Facundo Diaz Acosta (losing only four games) and then a straight sets win over the 26th seed Jiri Lehecka. The Australian was ranked 45th when this tournament got underway and is up a place in the live rankings. He's only played three tournaments before this Masters 1000 event. He's been consistent though with a run to the last four in Dubai. This is his first match against Fabian Marozsan. His opponent looks to be in the better form of the two and he can win this to go into round four for the first time..
