Wu Yibing has a big game coming as he entertains third seed Alexander Zverev in the Geneva Open quarter finals. To get here, top seed Alexander Zverev defeated Christopher Eubanks in straight sets in the second round. That win ensured he begins his second appearance in Geneva on a winning note. The German last played in the tournament in 2019 and ended up winning the title. The win over Eubanks took his tally for the season to 15 wins. Zverev has had an inconsistent campaign so far, and has lost 13 matches but is slowly turning his season around. His struggles have seen him drop out of the world’s top 15 and is now ranked 27th in the live ranking. Seven of Zverev’s 15 wins have come on clay. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two players.

Unseeded Wu Yibing has had a superb start to the season but has struggled to get going on clay. The Chinese number one has three wins and three losses from the six matches he has played on the surface. He started his debut tournament in Geneva in the first round and has dropped one set in the two matches he has played. Yibing defeated Marco Cecchinato in straight sets to advance to this round. His strong showing in Geneva has seen him move up five places in the live ranking to number 54 which is a career-high. Yibing has played two finals so far in 2023 and won his first tour title with his success in Dallas. The winner of this match will play either top seed Casper Ruud or the unseeded Nicolas Jarry in the semifinals.
