It's been an impressive year to date for sixth seeded Alexander Zverev. He takes on the 27th seed Tallon Griekspoor in round three at Indian Wells. The winner goes into the last 16 of this outdoor hard court tournament and will face either 20th seed Alexander Bublik or tenth seeded Alex de Minaur. Zverev is sixth in the overall rankings but fourth in the Live ATP Race based on points earned this year. The German began this year with only one loss in five singles matches as he led Germany to the United Cup title. The semi-finals of the Australian Open were then reached but it was so nearly the final. He let slip a two-set lead over Daniil Medvedev to crash out of the Grand Slam. Another semi-final was also reached recently in Los Cabos. His first match of this Masters 1000 tournament saw him beat Christopher O'Connell in straight sets.

Tallon Griekspoor is in the third round at Indian Wells for the second successive year. His first match this year was a straight sets win over Yannick Hanfmann, losing three games in each set. That win has taken him to 26th in the live rankings. His best performance this year came in his home tournament. Griekspoor reached the last four in the Rotterdam indoor hard court tournament. Before that he'd got to the third round in the Australian Open. Griekspoor has played Zverev on three previous occasions and trails him 2-1. His one win came in Rotterdam last year. The two losses were on grass in 2021 and on an outdoor hard court in Toronto last year. We tip Zverev to get a straight sets victory here.
