Alexander Zverev’s hunt for a second title of the year sees him square off with Alexandre Muller in the Hamburg Open. This will be a second-round match, and the winner is drawn to face Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard or Felix Auger-Aliassime. Read on for our prediction.

Zverev stated his concerns about this tournament coming right ahead of the French Open. A losing finalist last season, he may not be fully motivated.

That, however, was not seen in the first round, as he beat Aleksandar Kovacevic in straight sets. That was his 13th victory in 15 matches and set him on 14 wins in 19 clay outings.

Muller lost each of the previous two meetings with Zverev, and both were in straight sets. The Frenchman comes into this match having beaten qualifier Elias Ymer 2-0 in the opening round.

He will be aware of Zverev’s reservations about the timing of this event and will plan on frustrating the local favorite. It is highly doubtful Zverev will want to go into an engaging physical duel, which gives Muller a strategy.

He has, however, struggled against top-5 players, and the script may stay the same here. One of those players is Zverev, who beat Muller earlier this year in Munich. Muller lost half of his last 10 matches.
