Before this week, neither eighth-seed Botic van de Zandschulp or unseeded Alexander Shevchenko had won a match in the Tiriac Open. That's history now and the pair meet in round two of this outdoor clay court tournament in Bucharest. Read our match prediction below.

Both players lost in round one of this tournament last year, their only previous appearance in this Bucharest tournament. Van de Zandschulp got his maiden victory with a 6-3 6-2 success over Francesco Maestrelli. 

Last year saw him win 11 of his 21 matches played on clay with a semi-final in Kitzbuhel.  Five of his last eight matches have seen more than 21.5 games played. Of those matches, six saw either a 7-5 or 7-6 set played. He's 59th in the live rankings, 13 above his opponent.

Alexander Shevchenko beat Radu David Turcanu in round one for the loss of six games. That was a relatively short match for him as five of his last six matches have seen a tie-break played and a couple of the last four saw two go the distance.

The Russian has won 12 of his 23 matches this year with one hard court quarter-final in January.
