Alexander Bublik is the third seed in the Eastbourne International. His campaign begins with a second round match against lucky loser Aleksandar Vukic. The winner goes into the last eight and a match against either Marcos Giron, Liam Broady or Yoshihito Nishioka, all of whom are unseeded. Bublik is at 23rd in the latest ranking list but was as a career-high 17th earlier this month. He slipped down the rankings after losing the points won when winning the grass court title in Halle last year. 2024 saw him try to defend his title but he lost to Christopher Eubanks in the last 16. Before that he got to the quarter-finals in Stuttgart but had to retire from his match against Lorenzo Musetti when it was a set all.

Aleksandar Vukic thought his next match would be in the first round at Wimbledon. That's because he was beaten in straight sets by Yoshihito Nishioka in the final qualifying round. Withdrawals then saw him reinstated into the first round as a lucky loser. He made the most of that reprieve with a straight sets win over unseeded Fabian Marozsan. He's now 80th in the live rankings. The Australian is 1-1 in previous meetings with Bublik but this is their first match on grass. This is his fourth grass court tournament of the year and he reached the last eight of the Libema Open. We tip Bublik to get the win in this match.
