Daniil Medvedev will grace the Halle Open quarter-finals, facing off with Alex Michelsen on Friday. This marks only the second match between the two, and the winner will proceed to face Flavio Cobolli or Alexander Zverev. Below is our prediction.

Medvedev may not be as menacing as before but remains a decent player. This week he bagged win number 400 on the main tour and will be looking to extend the same as he seeks only his second title on grass.

The third seed overcame Quentin Halys in straight sets to reach a second quarter-final in Halle. He is a former finalist here (2022) and has already surpassed his performance at Halle last year.

Michelsen comes into this match seeking a third straight win on grass. He has done that only once in his last 18 grass court matches. The two wins he has had ahead of this match are enough to inspire him against Medvedev.

In the last round, the American defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets. That came right after a three-set win over 18th-ranked Francisco Cerundolo. Going into his fifth match on grass this season, Michelsen carries a 20-14 record.

He has twice lost at the quarter-final level this season. On his debut at Halle last year, Michelsen was dumped out in the first round. This, therefore, represents a big improvement.
