In the fixture of the weekend, third-placed Alaves and fifth-placed Levante battle it out for the twentieth round of the LaLiga2 campaign. Alaves’ second consecutive defeat, this time against Tenerife, has started to spring worries, with the team unable to afford a dramatic drop in form, in the heated nature of the promotion race. Overall however, it is fair to say Alaves have been impressive. They were unbeaten in their last nine before those defeats, managing to keep their goal intact in seven of those. To top it all off, they are unbeaten in each of their last nine home meetings against Levante, emerging as winners in six of them.

Levante’s slow but steady progress has brought them to fifth place, a win away from leaders Las Palmas. A scoreless draw with Ponferradina at the weekend might be considered as a missed opportunity given the stumbles of other top six teams, yet it expanded the visitors’ unbeaten streak to eleven games. Levante have also kept clean sheets in five of those games, while each of their last four have gone below the 2.5 goal line. What is also impressive is their record on the road. Levante have looked unfazed in their travels this season, having lost just one of their last ten away games, keeping clean sheets in five of those.
