Western Cape rivals Cape Town Spurs and Stellenbosch will face off at the DHL Cape Town Stadium in the PSL on Tuesday. The hosts are currently bottom of the log, while the visitors are seventh. Cape Town Spurs’ return to the PSL has not gone as they would have hoped. They have managed a meagre three points in 12 games and are already seven points behind Richards Bay in the relegation playoff spot. The hosts lost their 11th match in 12 against Royal AM over the weekend, extending their recent record to three losses on the bounce. The only victory they managed this term was against Orlando Pirates at the start of the month. While Spurs have been decent in attack, their defence has been where their biggest issues lie. They have already shipped 24 goals this season, which is the worst record in the top flight by some distance. Unsurprisingly, Spurs are clear outsiders in this one. 

Meanwhile, Stellenbosch suffered a difficult start to the 2023-24 league season, managing just two wins in their first eight games. However, since October, Stellies seem to have refound their form. They beat AmaZulu 1-0 in KZN over the weekend, which extended their recent record to four matches unbeaten either side of the international break. During that time, the visitors also beat TS Galaxy and Richards Bay and drew 0-0 with Chippa United. Their away record has also been improved of late, with just one loss in their last five, while they also kept three clean sheets during that run of fixtures. Stellies will be looking for a big result here as they try to keep their momentum going heading into their League Cup clash against Richards Bay next weekend.
