Cape Town Spurs will host Kaizer Chiefs in their final game of the 2023-24 PSL season on Saturday afternoon. The hosts are bottom of the table, while the visitors are eighth. Cape Town Spurs will be taking their final bow in the South African top flight this weekend before returning to the National First Division. They have managed just 20 points in 29 games this season, seven fewer than second-bottom Richards Bay. While Spurs have ended the season well, unfortunately, their uptick in form began a little too late. They held Golden Arrows to a 1-1 draw last week, marking their third match without defeat and have only lost one of their last five games. The Urban Warriors only went three games unbeaten once before this season. At home, the hosts have earned 12 points in 14 games and have failed to score in three of their last four. Spurs lost the reverse fixture 3-2 and are the clear underdogs in this one.
Meanwhile, it has been another subpar season for Kaizer Chiefs, who enter the final day of the campaign with just 36 points, 13 behind their Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates in third place in the league standings. In addition, with the mid-table still being very compact, Chiefs could end the season as low as 13th place if they lose here and results elsewhere go against them. AmaKhosi played out a 0-0 draw last time out, which was their third stalemate in a row and fourth consecutive game without victory. The Glamour Boys have only won one of their last ten league games, beating Supersport United 2-1 while drawing four and losing five of the remaining nine. Chiefs are also winless in their last seven away league games and have recorded just three victories on the road all season. While the visitors are the favourites, the result here is far from a foregone conclusion.
