Unseeded Alex Michelsen is up against the third seed Adrian Mannarino in the last 16 of the Mallorca Open. The winner goes into the quarter-finals of this grass court tournament with the scheduled seeded opponent being fifth seed Luciano Darderi. Michelsen has already had to play one match in this tournament, his opponent received a bye into round two. The American showed some good form on Sunday when beating Nuno Borges in straight sets. The first set was won on a tie-break but only three games were lost in the next. Michelsen is 62nd in the live rankings and that's only a couple of places behind his career-high. He's never played at Wimbledon before but did reach the final of the Hall of Fame Open in the USA last year and it was Mannarino who beat him.

Adrian Mannarino has had success at Wimbledon in the past. The Frenchman has made it to the last 16 on three occasions, last doing so in 2018. Last year saw Mannarino make it to the final of this tournament, losing the title decider to Christopher Eubanks. After a second-round loss at Wimbledon, he then headed to the USA and won that Hall of Fame grass court title, beating Michelsen in straight sets. Oh how he wishes that he was in that kind of form at present. The 35-year-old  has lost nine of his last ten matches. He was 21st in last week's rankings but with so many points to defend in the coming weeks he needs to quickly find some form.  Mannarino comes into this tournament having lost nine of his last ten matches. He's 1-2 on grass this year and at Queen's Club lost to Grigor Dimitrov, winning just three games. We tip Michelsen to win this match.
