Adelaide United vs Melbourne City Prediction & Betting Tips - A-League

Fourth placed Adelaide United host the A-League leaders Melbourne City. United's current position will take them into the play-off quarter finals. Finishing in the top two will see them go right through to the semi-finals and they are only behind second placed Central Coast Mariners on goal dfference. They come into this game unbeaten in their last seven league fixtures but four of those (including the last two) have ended level. Their unbeaten run nearly ended last weekend when needing an 87th minute equalizer to rescue a point at Melbourne Victory. Home form is strong with five wins, two draws and one loss. They are unbeaten in their last five on home soil and that includes an incredible 4-4 draw with Western Sydney Wanderers. They led 1-0, 2-1 and 4-3 in that game but also trailed 3-2. Their last five league games have seen both teams get on the scoresheet, incuding three of the last four at home. The reverse fixture with Melbourne City was played in January and ended 3-3 but United led 3-1 in that match.

Melbourne City are nine points clear at the top of the A-League. Last weekend saw them beat Sydney FC 3-2 at home. It looked like being a wider-margin victory as they led 2-0 after 13 minutes. While the league leaders do score on a regular basis, their defending leaves a bit to be desired. Their last five games in the A-League have all seen both teams score. Five of their nine away league fixtures have been won but only one of the last four. Six of the last seven on the road have seen both teams score and unsurprisingly that's our prediction for this game.
