Aberdeen will seek their first win of the new Scottish Premiership season when they host Celtic on Sunday. After one round of play, Aberdeen sit seventh in the standings while Celtic again find themselves top. Aberdeen began the campaign with a 0-0 draw away to Livingston. Despite dominating in possession, Barry Robson’s charges were blunt in attack and failed to even master a shot on target. They will hope to show up offensively here as they seek their first win against Celtic in 21 matches. The Dons were last victorious in this fixture in 2018. Aberdeen, who qualified for the Europa League by finishing third last season, were excellent in pre-season. They won three of their four friendlies with one being a 3-2 success over Charlton Athletic. Aberdeen finished last season’s league campaign with a seven-match unbeaten run at home. They won six of those matches and will hope to pick up from where they left off.

Celtic have won the last seven fixtures against Aberdeen. The last four encounters have seen them score 12 goals without reply. They will hope for much of the same as they seek to keep their 100% start to the season intact. The Bhoys were 4-2 winners against Ross County on matchday one at home. David Turnbull scored a brace in the match with last season’s top scorer Kyogo Furuhashi also getting in on the scoring act. The win extended Celtic’s current unbeaten run to four matches with three of those ending in victory. Former Leicester City manager Brendan Rogers is back for a second spell at the club. He famously led the club to an unbeaten league title triumph in 2017. Celtic have won 18 of the last 21 matches against Aberdeen with eight of those coming while away.
