The first Saturday of the 2026 World Cup is here, and a bumper-to-bumper schedule is on the cards, headlined by the blockbuster between Brazil and Morocco at MetLife Stadium. Below, we discuss our top goalscorer bets for today, featuring top anytime scorer picks, value selections and key attacking threats.

Brazil vs. Morocco: Raphinha to Shine in Neymar’s Absence

The headline fixture of today’s stacked 2026 World Cup card comes from MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where Brazil will be taking on Morocco in a clash that could set the tone for how Group B in this competition may pan out.

As discussed in our Brazil vs. Morocco prediction, A Seleção is the most successful team in World Cup history with five titles, but they have not lifted the most prestigious award in world football in the last five editions, nor have they got beyond the quarter-final since 2002.

With Neymar’s availability in serious doubt owing to a calf injury, attacking responsibility will fall firmly on the shoulders of Brazil’s wide-men Raphinha and Vinicius Junior, and it is the Barcelona man that we feel could make the difference in this match.

Raphinha was involved in more goals than any Brazilian player during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers!

Indeed, the 29-year-old attacker netted five goals and provided two assists for his national team in the CONMEBOL qualifiers, and racked up an excellent 21 goals and seven assists in 33 appearances for Blaugrana, despite missing several matches in the 2025-26 season through injury.

At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Raphinha ended the tournament as the player with the most shots on target without scoring a goal (6). However, he has been in much better form leading up to this tournament and looks primed to make his mark in a more positive manner in North America.

Qatar vs. Switzerland: Embolo Leads the Line for Red Crosses

Switzerland are widely considered one of the dark horses at the 2026 World Cup, having come through the UEFA qualifiers unbeaten (W4 D2) and cracked a favourable draw in Group B alongside Canada, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Qatar.

Murat Yakin’s side are also unbeaten in their last six World Cup opening matches, and they will be confident in their chances of extending that record against the Maroons, who are 56th in the world rankings, 37 places below themselves (19th). Check out our Qatar vs. Switzerland prediction for all the key stats.

Switzerland averaged 2.33 goals per 90 during their World Cup qualifying campaign (UEFA)!

Of the 14 goals in six games that the Swiss scored during the UEFA qualifiers, Breel Embolo netted four times - the most in his qualifying group - and he also recorded 10 goals in 34 appearances in his debut season for Rennes in 2025-26.

Physical, intelligent, and good in combination, Embolo has built a reputation as a big-stage performer, becoming one of only five players to score multiple goals at both the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2024, alongside Harry Kane, Kai Havertz, Niclas Füllkrug and Cody Gakpo.

The 29-year-old forward will test the Qatari defence both aerially and in behind. He took his tally to 24 goals in 86 senior caps for Switzerland by netting against Jordan last month, and is expected to be the team’s first-choice penalty taker for this tournament.

Haiti vs. Scotland: Scott McTominay Represents Good Value

Arguably, the most intriguing fixture of the 2026 World Cup today will see Haiti taking on Scotland. It is sure to be an emotional encounter for both sides, with Les Grenadiers returning to football’s grandest stage for the first time in 52 years, while the Tartan Army are making their first appearance since 1998.

Steve Clarke’s squad boasts a wealth of players who ply their trade across some of Europe’s best clubs, and they have built up good momentum coming into this fixture, having scored four times in each of their last two warm-up matches against Curacao and Bolivia.

Lawrence Shankland and Che Adams bagged a brace apiece in those games, but our value pick of the day is the talismanic Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay, who also got on the scoresheet in the first half against Bolivia in New Jersey last weekend.

Since the start of 2023, McTominay has scored 13 goals for Scotland in competitive matches - eight more than any of his teammates!

Additionally, the Manchester United academy graduate was involved in more goals than any other Scotland player during the UEFA qualifiers (2 goals, 1 assist), and was one of only three players, along with Andy Robertson and John McGinn, to start all six matches.

McTominay’s availability was in doubt earlier this week after he missed Thursday’s training due to an upset stomach. However, it has since been confirmed that his absence was precautionary, and he was part of the side’s training yesterday, suggesting he should be fit and ready to go tonight.
