A captivating matchday 9 in the Women’s Super League is set to play out this Sunday with 10 of the 12 teams in action. Below, we’ve highlighted the two matches to keep an eye on as well as a few of the most interesting storylines at play.

Tottenham vs Arsenal - first North London derby of 2025-26

Tottenham hosts reigning European champions Arsenal at Brisbane Road in the late kickoff in the standout matchup of the 2025-26 Women's Super League gameweek. There’s a lot on the line for both clubs; for Arsenal, it hasn’t been the type of start that they would have had in mind for a team with genuine aspirations of knocking Chelsea off their perch of domestic domination. For Tottenham, a win here would catapult them back into the race for the top 3 and, with it, a place in the Champions League.

The Gunners sensationally won the UEFA Women’s Champions League last season, upsetting the heavily favoured Barcelona to lift the trophy for the second time in their history. There was the expectation that they would parlay that success into the WSL campaign, but only four wins from the first eight games has them already nine points off the top spot with a game in hand.

Tottenham had gotten off to a great start, earning 15 of the first 21 possible points to mark their best-ever start to a WSL season. Last week saw them take a significant hit as they lost to newly-promoted London City. Now, they face an uphill task against a heavily favoured Arsenal side, although they are at home. Will the underdogs pull off an upset? See what our experts think in our Tottenham (F) vs Arsenal (F) prediction!

History of the women’s North London derby - last 10 meetings

  • Arsenal wins: 8
  • Tottenham wins: 1
  • Draws: 1
  • Arsenal goals scored: 30
  • Tottenham goals scored: 6

Arsenal have dominated this fixture winning eight of the last 10 competitive matches and losing only once. Spurs haven’t beaten the Arsenal women since December 2023 and the last time these two faced off in the WSL resulted in Arsenal thrashing Tottenham 5-0.

Liverpool vs Chelsea - champions under pressure

Sam Kerr scores for Chelsea

After winning the league at a canter last season, Chelsea now find themselves in an interesting position as the pressure begins to ramp up. Man City look to be serious challengers to end Chelsea’s run of six consecutive league titles and are making an increasingly more convincing case as the season rolls on. City’s 3-0 dismantling of local rivals Manchester United on Saturday has seen the Citizens go four points clear at the top ahead of Sunday’s fixtures. Now, it’s over to Chelsea to respond with a victory and close the gap to just one point.

A win or a draw for Chelsea would see them set the record for consecutive unbeaten matches in the WSL at 34.

Picking up from where they left off last season, Chelsea are still unbeaten in the 2025-26 season. The Blues famously became the first team in the WSL to complete an ‘invincibles’ season in the current 22-match format en route to winning the domestic treble. The only disappointment? The UEFA Women's Champions League, where they bowed out in the semi-finals. They’re now just one result away from making history once again and it would be a massive shock if they were to lose to this Liverpool team. Chelsea won this fixture 3-0 last season and have won six of their last seven against this opponent.

The return of Sam Kerr

To assist with their title charge is the return of club legend Samantha Kerr. Kerr missed nearly two complete seasons of football with an ACL injury that had a number of setbacks in the recovery. In total, the 32-year-old spent 20 months on the sidelines.

She got her first Chelsea start in an incredible 692 days in their midweek Champions League match against St. Polten. Kerr put in a shining performance and scored a brace in Chelsea’s lopsided 6-0 victory.

Kerr can be a huge boost to this Chelsea side that haven’t quite hit the high-scoring expectations so far in the 2025-26 WSL campaign. She’s notched 103 goals for Chelsea in 138 all-time appearances for a 0.75 goal to game ratio.
