2025 US Open Final: Sinner and Alcaraz Clash in Third Straight Major Final This Year

Sinner To Defend Title Against Greatest Rival
The world No. 1 since June 2024, making the US Open final isn't exactly breaking news. However, this final appearance will make Jannik Sinner the fourth man in the Open Era to reach all major singles finals in the same year! He's also the youngest to do it. Talk about dominance.
It's safe to say Sinner has taken the mantle from Djokovic, Federer, and Nadal, and he shows no signs of letting go. Yet, one man stands in his way, threatening both his title defense and crown as the world’s current best men’s tennis players. And that man is none other than Carlos Alcaraz.
You can check out our Jannik Sinner vs Carlos Alcaraz prediction, but what we can tell you here is that it's definitely a matchup for the ages. The bookmakers slightly favour Sinner in this game, but his H2H against Alcaraz says it's going to be anything but an easy ride, especially against a man he has lost two finals in a row to.
But Sinner is in better shape now and has a US Open cup to defend (plus a H2H legacy to protect), which should bring out the beast in the man. Sinner has now won 24 of his last 27 singles, but it's worth noting that two of those three losses came against Carlos Alcaraz.
Alcaraz Searches for Second US Open Cup
Carlos Alcaraz, the 2022 US Open cup winner, steps on the hardcourt to bag his second title against the toughest opponent he could possibly imagine. However, for the world No. 2, who's beaten Sinner in two finals this year, another cup is definitely within reach.
Alcaraz and Sinner will now play for the third straight time at a major men’s singles final in a year, joining the ranks of only a few players to achieve this feat. Alcaraz isn't the favourite in the matchup according to the best betting odds. However, his H2H suggests the possibility of mispriced odds.
Alcaraz leads Sinner 6-4 in their H2H, and has three of their four matchups in 2025, which were all finals. What's more interesting is that their last six meetings have been in tournament finals, and Alcaraz came out on top in four of those games.
Form-wise, there's little to separate Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz in this tournament. But it's worth noting that Alcaraz won all six games leading up to the final without dropping a single set. As opposed to Sinner, who dropped one set in two separate games.
