Los Blancos vs. Die Bayern: Will Bernabeu Magic Be Enough to Stop Rampant Reds?
Only eight teams are left standing in the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League, and tonight, the Santiago Bernabeu sets the stage for a matchup between two of the most successful teams in the competition's history - it’s Real Madrid taking on Bayern Munich!
This is the 22nd and 24th time, respectively, that Los Blancos and Die Bayern are featuring in a quarter-final of Europe’s elite club cup competition. No team has reached the last eight more than these European titans, and you can get all the key insights for this clash in our Champions League predictions.
Madrid secured their spot in the quarter-final by defeating Manchester City 5-1 on aggregate, which included a 3-0 victory on their home patch in the first leg. Bayern, meanwhile, obliterated Atalanta 10-2 on aggregate and are now one of the favourites to clinch this season’s title.
However, Die Roten will know all too well that Los Merengues at the Bernabeu in the UCL are a different beast. The last time these two faced off at this venue in 2024, Real secured a 2-1 victory to win the tie 4-3 on aggregate and advance to the final, which they won against Borussia Dortmund.
Since 2001-02, these two have locked horns eight times in Madrid, and Bayern have never left with a victory. They won a quarter-final second leg 2-1 here in 2017 in normal time, but that only levelled the tie at 3-3. Los Galacticos went on to win the tie, with Cristiano Ronaldo (2) and Arsensio (1) scoring three goals in extra-time.

Mbappe vs Kane: Race for UCL Golden Boot

There will certainly be no shortage of quality on display in tonight's marquee matchup, but two players who have dominated the headlines in the lead-up to this clash are the team’s talisman, Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane - both of whom lead the race for the Golden Boot in this competition.
Mbappe currently sits at the top of the list with 13 goals in nine games, while Kane is joint-second with 10. Anthony Gordon is also on 10 goals in this season’s UCL, but he bowed out of the competition in the Knockout Playoffs, losing 8-3 on aggregate to Barcelona.
Looking deeper at the staggering numbers these two have produced this season - the Frenchman has 38 goals and five assists in 35 appearances across all competitions, meaning he is averaging a remarkable 1.22 goal contributions per match.
England’s skipper, on the other hand, has racked up 48 goals and five assists for Die Roten in just 39 appearances across all competitions, which equates to 1.35 goal contributions per 90. You can find more stats like this in our in-depth Real Madrid vs Bayern prediction.
Both players have been dealing with ankle injuries of late. Mbappe missed the first leg against Man City, while Kane sat out the victory over Freiburg at the weekend. However, the Englishman trained on Monday and travelled with the squad to Spain. Speaking on Kane's fitness ahead of the match, Vincent Kompany said:
"Harry's part of the team so that's positive for us. We have to wait until tomorrow to get the final information, then we will make our decision. It was important that he did a lot of training today. I don't think he's lost his rhythm."
Beyond Mbappe and Kane, there is still plenty of class on display, with the likes of Vinicius Junior, Federico Valverde, Luis Diaz and Michael Olise - all players who have already shone in this competition - eager to make their mark on this box-office clash.
