Two of Europe’s Most Lethal Attacks Go Head-to-Head in Paris
The UEFA Champions League semi-finals kick off tonight with a mouth-watering clash at the Parc des Princes, where Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich - two of Europe’s most lethal attacking sides - battle for an early advantage in this blockbuster two-legged tie.
As discussed in our PSG vs Bayern Munich prediction, this has all the makings of one of the most entertaining matchups in recent memory. Both teams have already scored an incredible 38 goals in the UCL this season, although Bayern have done so in two fewer matches.
Die Roten have been relentless in front of goal this season, netting a remarkable 167 times (113 in the Bundesliga alone) in just 49 matches across all competitions - an average of 3.4 goals per game - the highest across the top five leagues in Europe.
At the forefront of their prolific attack is Harry Kane, who is having the season of his life with 53 goals in all competitions and counting. He has 12 goals and an assist in the UCL and is a front-runner for the 2025-26 Ballon d’Or, with the Bavarians on course for a treble.
Beyond Kane, who now holds the outright record for the most goals by an English player in a European Cup/ Champions League campaign, Luis Diaz and Michael Olise have been incredible too, currently on 9 and 10 UCL goal contributions this season, respectively.
Bayern vs PSG attackers this season (all competitions)
| Bayern Munich | Paris Saint-Germain |
|---|---|
| Harry Kane (53 goals) | Ousmane Dembele (16 goals) |
| Luis Díaz (25 goals) | Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (16 goals) |
| Michael Olise (19 goals) | Gonçalo Ramos (12 goals) |
| Serge Gnabry (10 goals) | Bradley Barcola (12 goals) |
| Nicolas Jackson (10 goals) | Desire Doue (12 goals) |
While Bayern’s attack has clearly put up superior numbers this term, you simply cannot write off the Parisians, who have made a habit of producing late-season surges and have one of the most in-form attackers at their disposal in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
The Georgian international was the undoubted standout performer against Liverpool in the quarter-finals and has been directly involved in 13 goals in this season’s Champions League (8 goals, 5 assists), the second-most by a PSG player in Europe’s elite cup competition.
That record belongs to the reigning World Player of the Year, Ousmane Dembele (14). While injuries have affected his attacking output this season, the Frenchman has racked up seven goal contributions in his last seven games in all competitions, including a brace against Liverpool in the last round.
Can Bayern Extend Stellar Record Against Paris Saint-Germain?

This has become a familiar rivalry on the European stage, with these two sides having met 15 times in the Champions League. They have crossed paths nine times across the last nine seasons alone, making it the second-most-played fixture in this period after Real Madrid vs Manchester City (13).
Bayern Munich hold the clear advantage in the recent head-to-head standings as shown in our Champions League predictions, having won each of the last five encounters - the longest winning streak any side has recorded against PSG in a major European competition!
The most recent clash between these continental heavyweights came on Matchday 4 this season, here at the Parc des Princes, where the German giants ran out 2-1 winners, with Luis Diaz scoring both goals before being sent off in added time just before the halftime break.
Across the aforementioned 15 UCL matches between these sides, Paris Saint-Germain have suffered nine defeats against the Bavarians - their most against a single opponent in the competition and their highest loss rate (60%) against a team they have faced at least three times.

Suspended Kompany Eyeing Third Straight Win Against Enrique

Aside from the storylines on the pitch, the major talking point from the dugouts ahead of this clash revolves around Vincent Kompany, who is suspended from the touchlines for the first leg after being booked for dissent in his side’s victory over Real Madrid earlier this month.
Assistant coach Aaron Danks will take up touchline duties tonight, yet despite his absence, the Belgian tactician has “100% confidence” in his deputy for this crucial matchup. Speaking in the team’s pre-match press conference, Kompany explained:
“Danksy has plenty of experience, was on the touchline for a while in England. I've got 100% confidence in the staff and everyone else.”
Kompany has won both Champions League meetings with Paris Saint-Germain since arriving in Bavaria (1-0 in November 2024 and 2-1 in November 2025). Another victory here would see him become the most successful manager against Enrique in the competition.
Kompany vs. Enrique: Records at current clubs
| Stats | Vincent Kompany | Luis Enrique |
|---|---|---|
| Matches | 105 | 167 |
| Wins | 81 | 118 |
| Win Percentage | 77% | 71% |
| Points per match | 2.44 | 2.27 |
| Head-to-head wins | 2 | 0 |
Yet, despite Kompany’s success against him, Enrique was full of praise for his counterpart, describing Die Roten’s boss as a “top-level coach” with an attacking philosophy, while also admitting that the German side is “one of his favourite teams to watch,” in his pre-match presser.
Enrique added that his side is in really good form and he feels tonight’s blockbuster would be “an entertaining game for everyone,” while also revealing that facing the rampant Germans will be a “tough task,” requiring his side to be prepared for every possible scenario.
