Khvicha Kvaratskhelia vs. Jurrien Timber
This season’s UEFA Champions League final has all the makings to go down as one of the greatest ever, as Paris Saint-Germain look to go back-to-back, while Arsenal have their sights set on becoming the 25th different club to win Europe’s premier cup competition.
Rarely has the UCL final produced such a contrasting clash of styles as discussed in our PSG vs Arsenal prediction. Les Parisiens are the highest-scoring team in the competition with 44 goals, but standing in their way are the Gunners - the best defence in Europe this season.
Mikel Arteta confirms Jurrien Timber is fit to start the Champions League final!
Arteta revealed that the Gunners’ right-back is in contention to start the final during his pre-match press conference. Timber has not featured for the English champions since March 14 after sustaining a groin injury in the team’s 2-0 victory over Everton in the Premier League.
The Dutch international’s return is a major boost for Arsenal, given that Ben White is sidelined until pre-season. However, the 24-year-old faces a massive test this evening, as he will be tasked with trying to keep the rampant Khvicha Kvaratskhelia quiet.
Kvaratskhelia has been sensational for PSG in Europe this season and is currently tied with Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe for the most goal contributions in the competition (16). Notably, 10 of his goal involvements have come in the Knockout Phase - the most in the UCL era.
The Georgian has been directly involved in goals in each of his last seven UCL matches - the first player to achieve the feat - and perhaps his best goal came in the semi-final at the Allianz Arena, where he left Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upemecano in his shadow with his devastating pace.
Ousmane Dembele vs. Gabriel and Saliba
We mentioned in our Champions League predictions that one of the biggest talking points in the lead-up to tonight’s final is the “fresh vs. fatigue” factor. Indeed, since the start of the 2025-26 season, no team in Europe’s top five leagues has played more matches than Arsenal across all competitions.
Arteta has largely relied on a core of around 13 players most weeks, while Luis Enrique has been able to rotate frequently throughout the season. This is best illustrated when looking at Ousmane Dembele, who only started 11 of PSG’s 34 Ligue 1 games this term.
While the reigning Ballon d’Or winner’s output has dipped this year, he has rediscovered his touch over the last few months, netting five goals in his last three appearances in the UCL. He was also crucial in the Parisians' triumph over Arsenal in last season’s semi-final tie.

PSG have scored 44 goals this season, one shy of the record set by Barcelona back in 1999-00, but David Raya is on the cusp of making history too, as another shutout would see him surpass Edouard Mendy, Keylor Navas and Santiago Canizares for the most clean sheets in a single UCL campaign.
However, a huge part of Raya’s success is attributable to the rock-solid central defensive partnership in front of him in William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes. The French-Brazilian duo’s cohesion has got even stronger this year, with many considering them the best central pairing in world football.
The two complement each other superbly, with Saliba’s composure, athleticism and ability on the ball providing the ideal balance to Gabriel’s physicality and aggression. Not to mention, they provide Arsenal with a major threat from dead-ball situations, as we saw in the Premier League this season.
Midfield Maestros: Vitinha vs Declan Rice
While PSG’s rampant attack has dominated headlines this season, it has been their midfield that has laid the foundation for Enrique’s forwards to shine. Fabian Ruiz and Joao Neves have been impeccable in the engine room, but it is Vitinha who controls operations in the centre of the park.
The Portuguese international has started all of PSG’s knockout matches in the Champions League across the last two seasons, and his influence on the team last term saw him finish third in the Ballon d’Or reckoning behind Dembele and Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal.
Among midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues who have played at least 1,500 minutes this season, Vitinha ranks fifth for attacking sequence involvements per 90 minutes in all competitions (averaging 7.8), which underlines his playmaking influence on the team.
Vitinha now holds the record for the most completed passes (1,489) in a single Champions League season!
However, PSG’s midfield maestro will not have it all his own way this evening, as he will have to contend with the all-action Declan Rice, who has got himself into talks of a potential Ballon d’Or nomination, given he could be a Premier League and Champions League winner before heading to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Rice has only scored one goal and provided two assists in Europe this season, but it is his work rate that sets him apart. He averages 2.1 key passes per match with a 92% pass accuracy. Out of possession, Rice averages 3.6 ball recoveries and 1.2 interceptions per match, with a 52% duel win rate.
The England international also has a 50% dribble success rate, which could prove significant in counter-attacking situations tonight. While his goal threat is not as high as Vitinha’s, Rice’s ability to dictate tempo and control territory will be crucial to Arsenal’s ability to contain PSG’s attack.
