Carlos Alcaraz Seeks First ATP Finals Win Over Bitter Rival
Carlos Alcaraz, who's the current world number one with 11,050 points, has made it to his first-ever final in the ATP Finals, and he couldn't have gotten a tougher matchup. Alcaraz must defeat the reigning champion and his bitter rival, Jannik Sinner, to win the final and retain his world no.1 status at the year’s end.
Check out our Carlos Alcaraz vs Jannik Sinner prediction where we say that while Alcaraz might be facing the toughest possible opponent in this tournament, he'll be confident against Sinner, who he's defeated in four of six finals this year.
Alcaraz beat Sinner in the Italian Open, French Open, Cincinnati Open, and US Open, only failing to win the Wimbledon Championship and the Riyadh Exhibition final. While Sinner is the favourite, their past history tells a different story, and Alcaraz’s psychological advantage could very well see the Italian losing to the Spaniard yet again.
On-Form Sinner Defends ATP Finals Title Versus World No.1
Despite his underwhelming record versus Carlos Alcaraz in 2025, Sinner is determined to defend his title after reaching his third straight final in the ATP Finals. The betting odds favour Sinner in this game, and rightfully so, as he's been in impeccable form, winning his last 17 singles and four straight tournaments.
In fact, that run only saw Sinner dropping one set, and it was to Alexander Zverev, the world no.3. Alcaraz has also been brilliant, but has dropped significantly more sets and featured in a shock RO32 defeat to 27th-placed Cameron Norrie in the Paris Masters. Form-wise, the momentum is definitely with Sinner, and with a title to defend, he's poised to get the job done and possibly regain his number one spot.
Still, Alcaraz has an equal claim to this year's ATP Finals, especially after beating Sinner in four of six final clashes in 2025 alone. Will Alcaraz lift the title in his first final of the ATP Finals, or will Sinner’s title defense in his third straight final prove too much for the Spaniard?
