Mozambique vs Cameroon: Winner Goes Top in Group F Final Game

Mozambique 3-2 Thriller Secures RO16 Spot
Mozambique has been one of the dark horses in this tournament so far. The Mambas kept Ivory Coast to a 1-0 win on the opening day, then defied the AFCON betting odds with a shocking 3-2 win over Gabon in Round 2.
That win, along with Cameroon’s draw with Ivory on the same day, sealed Gabon’s elimination and put Mozambique in a prime position to finish top-2. What's more, with other third-placed teams failing to secure points on the final day, Mozambique are now through to the AFCON knockouts for the first time in history.
However, the Mambas aren't satisfied with the hunt. In third place, Mozambique will play Nigeria, last edition’s runner-up and the only team to win all three tournament games so far. And that could make for an early exit in their first appearance.
However, a first-place finish could see Mozambique play either Burkina Faso or Sudan (Group E second-place), while a second-place finish would get them South Africa (Group B runner-up). That's why beating Cameroon, no matter how difficult, is still a priority for Mozambique.
Indomitable Lions Eye Top Spot After Holding Champions to Stalemate
Mozambique may be on a high after beating Gabon, but The Indomitable Lions are a different beast entirely. Cameroon just held the champions Côte d'Ivoire to a 1-1 draw that could've very well been a win.
That performance followed their opening game victory, where Cameroon held Gabon’s fierce strike partnership of Bouanga and Aubameyang to a goalless defeat (1-0). It's Cameroon's balance across the entire pitch that makes them a particularly formidable foe.
They don't score too many goals, but the Indomitable Lions defend their goalie fiercely, while fielding attackers who can get the job done with few chances. Just look at their last 21 games.
With the win and draw in their 2025 AFCON campaign, Cameroon is undefeated in 18 of its last 21 games, which featured 11 wins. But even more impressive is the fact that Cameroon conceded only 10 goals in those 21 games, letting in just 0.47 per game. For Mozambique, netting a goal here could mean pulling out their best performances of the year, while having to deal with Bryan Mbeumo and Etta Eyong, who are leading Man United and Levante for goals in the 2025/26 season.
