It all boils down to the final day in the Champions League. Only six slots remain in the top 8, and the 13th-placed Manchester is vying for one. The problem is that Galatasaray is still in the elimination debate and will be fighting to the death to retain its position in the top 24. Will the Citizens face another setback in Round 8 to an even more desperate Cimbom team?

Man City’s 16-Point Agenda

Interestingly, eight teams share the same 13 points with Manchester City, and as many as 14 teams can still finish in the top 8. So for the Citizens, winning this game isn't an option.

If they fail to beat Gala, the 2023 Champions League winners will likely have to play the two-legged playoffs, risking elimination before the RO16, plus injuries and fatigue even if they proceed.

Pep’s men will be eager to set things right after the 3-1 thrashing at the hands of Bodo/Glimt in the last round, which was a loss that saw City fail to crack the top 8.

However, with an out-of-form Haaland upfront and an in-form Semenyo out of the mix until the knockouts due to ineligibility rules, Man City have a tough game ahead. The Norwegian striker is now goalless in his five games, which could have been nine but for one penalty against Brighton.

It also doesn't help that Phil Foden is on an 11-game goalless streak. And it's why punters who are interested in this game should check out our Man City vs Galatasaray prediction first.

Cimbom Still in Elimination Race

The situation is even more dire for the reigning Turkish champions. Galatasaray, who have won three, drawn one, and lost three, now sit squarely in 17th position, with only ten points, putting them just two points off the elimination zone.

Cimbom fans are heavily disappointed with the team's latest performances in the UCL after a strong opening. Gala took three wins in the first four games, but then lost back-to-back and drew the latest against Atletico Madrid.

That slip-up now threatens Galatasaray’s European dreams. Thankfully, with the probability of all nine teams below them winning, Gala may just get away with only a draw in this game. The visitors certainly have the offensive firepower to trouble the City back line and sneak in a goal or two.

Notably, Victor Osimhen is back from his AFCON stint and has registered a goal in his latest game, the second since his return to Turkey. The Nigerian striker is also just behind Mbappe (11) and Haaland (6) on UCL goals, boasting five of his own in five tournament games.

Former City man Leroy Sane will also make a dramatic trip back to Etihad. Sane will partner with Baris Yilmaz on the flank, and their deadly pace, dribbling, and creativity might just be enough to overwhelm City’s defense, which is also missing Ruben Dias (injury), Josko Gvardiol (injury), Rodri (suspension), and new signing Marc Geuhi (ineligible).

Between the pair is already a ton of goal contributions, specifically 11 G/A for Sane in his last ten games and six G/A for Yilmaz in the last seven.
