In a matchup with major ramifications for the title race, Manchester City and league leaders Arsenal are set to lock horns at the Etihad Stadium on matchday 33 of the Premier League. The Citizens have a game in hand, meaning they have a chance to clinch the league title, which will require them to sustain their impressive form and avoid costly slip-ups.

The Citizens can keep their title hopes alive with a win

With a game in hand and seven games remaining in the 2025-26 Premier League season, Manchester City can dream of being crowned champions if they keep their eyes on the prize.

The Citizens have amassed 64 points from 31 games and are six points adrift of Arsenal, who are at the summit. Success, however, will require near-perfection in the closing stages of the campaign to keep their title hopes alive.

When it comes to the Premier League, they have avoided defeat in their last nine matches. During this period, they recorded six wins and three draws. Can they maintain this unbeaten run this Sunday? Check out our Manchester City vs Arsenal prediction for more insights into the game.

Also, Pep Guardiola's charges have been a difficult team to beat in the past few weeks. Apart from their setback against European giants Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on March 17, they have won three straight games in all competitions without conceding a goal. One of those wins was a 2-0 away victory against Arsenal in the EFL Cup final.

Can Arsenal defend their top spot in the Premier League?

Arsenal have shown a tendency to choke in crunch time, and failure to secure maximum points in this clash could prove costly in their pursuit of silverware.

The Gunners' form heading into this clash is not one to be proud of, as they've won just one of their last five matches across all competitions. However, a goalless draw against Sporting Lisbon in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final was enough to see them progress to the semi-finals thanks to a 1-0 aggregate success.

Mikel Arteta's men had the chance to widen the gap in the Premier League standings last time out against Bournemouth, but couldn't do so. They succumbed to a 2-1 defeat in front of their home crowd. It was their first league defeat in nine games.

The North London outfit is aiming to return to the win column. However, that'll prove easier said than done against a Manchester City side that has kept them at arm's length in recent meetings. They have failed to win in any of their last two meetings against this opponent. In fact, they have lost 13 of their last 20 league meetings (W2, D5).

Despite this, Arsenal can draw inspiration from the fact that they have gone five games without defeat. This is a significant improvement for a side that had lost 12 consecutive matches.
