His form dipped since then with only one out of 12 matches being won before this tournament. His form has returned this week in Marseille with wins over Quentin Halys and Hubert Hurkacz, both in three sets.
In previous meetings, Bergs leads 2-1 and that includes a win for the Belgian in Shanghai last October. Bergs is 58th in the live rankings after reaching his second quarter-final of the year. 2025 began for him with a run to the final in Auckland.
He's 25th in the ATP Live Race and that's 102 places higher than his opponent. This week has seen him beat qualifier Clement Chidekh and in the second round had a three-set win over eighth seed Nuno Borges.
