After a good week in Los Cabos, Denis Shapovalov is in Montreal this week. He takes on fellow unseeded player Zachary Svajda in round one of the National Bank Open in Montreal. Shapovalov was a finalist last week and our prediction is he wins this.

The winner will face 18th seed Arthur Fils in round two of this outdoor hard court Masters tournament.

It's not been an easy year for Denis Shapovalov and he has lost 15 of his 28 matches played. The Canadian had a negative record on this surface until last week. He made it all the way to the final in Los Cabos (a tournament he won last year) but lost to Arthur Gea in the final and is 7-6 for the year.

Shapovalov is 43rd in the rankings, 44 places above his opponent.

Zachary Svajda is playing his first outdoor hard court tournament since the Miami Masters in March

The American has won 16 of his 23 matches played on outdoor hard court tournaments this year.  He has had success but on the Challenger TOur with one title won in San Diego. On the ATP Tour, he has only reached a couple of round two's in Delray Beach and Indian Wells and not progressed further.
