The final match of a jam-packed weekend in the Autumn Nations Series will see Wales face off against Australia at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff on Sunday evening. The Dragons have fallen to 11th place in the world rugby standings, while the Wallabies are in eighth place. Check out our match prediction below.
It’s tough being a Welsh rugby fan right now, as the side are currently on the verge of an 11th consecutive defeat, which would mark the longest losing streak in the nation’s history of Test rugby. Australia have dealt two defeats to Wales during their winless 2024 and are starting to find their form again after a very poor Rugby Championship back in September.
The hosts are unsurprisingly showing up as the clear underdogs in this match, but can they find a way to avoid an unwanted record-breaking defeat against their Southern Hemisphere counterparts? Let’s get into the key stats at play in this contest.

Wales - Australia: Form Analysis
Wales are having their worst year in recent memory, having received the Wooden Spoon at the Six Nations back in March and they have failed to win a match since the World Cup in France.
The Dragons suffered a 24-19 defeat to Fiji at this venue last week, marking the first time they have ever lost to the Pacific Islanders on home soil in history.
That result was also the fifth consecutive home loss the hosts have conceded, while their last victory on their home patch was against England back at the start of August 2023.
Meanwhile, Australia beat England last week to record their first win at Twickenham in almost a decade!
However, like their opponents, Australia have been undergoing a major revamp since the departure of Eddie Jones, and that win followed three consecutive losses since September.
The Wallabies were also handed the Wooden Spoon in the clash of the Southern Hemisphere heavyweights this year, the Rugby Championship, where they managed only a single win in six matches.
Still, the visitors will have taken huge confidence from last week’s victory and will arrive in Cardiff in high spirits having won nine of their last 11 visits to the Millenium Stadium.

Wales & Australia Squad Analysis
An under-pressure Warren Gatland has made four changes to the squad he sent out against the Flying Fijians last week, in hopes that he can turn around the Dragons' dismal form.
Tom Rogers and Ellis Bevan have been drafted into the starting 15 and will replace Mason Grady and Tomos Williams, respectively.
Jac Morgan has also been brought in and will be featuring in his first Test since the World Cup, replacing Taine Plumtree, while the front five in the pack remain unchanged.
Joseph Suaalii has been left out of the Australia squad for this match!
Indeed, Suaalii’s omission comes as a major surprise after he put in a Man of the Match performance last week, but he is replaced in this one by Samu Kerevi, who will partner Len Ikitau in midfield.
Dylan Pietsch sustained a calf injury against the Red Rose and is ruled out, which sees Max Jorgensen take up the left-wing role, and Nic White comes in for Jake Gordon at number nine.

Our Wales vs Australia Prediction
Wales are in a rut at the moment, and unfortunately, there is very little light at the end of the tunnel with the Springboks arriving in Cardiff next week and a Six Nations opener against France in the New Year.
Indeed, Australia have not been great themselves either this year, but the progress under Joe Schmidt is evident and they will be brimming with confidence after that upset victory against England last week. Our Wales vs Australia prediction: Australia -2.5!
Wales vs Australia - Other Interesting Predictions
Wales Under 22.5
Wales only managed to score 19 points against Fiji last week and have failed to score 23+ points in four of their last five matches across all competitions.
