201.5km awaits riders on Stage 6 of the Tour de France, another punchy stage with six climbs, plus an unclassified one up to the finish line, which includes a 14% stretch over the last couple of hundred metres. We need a strong climber for our prediction here.

The two puncheurs stages so far have gone to Mathieu van der Poel and Tadej Pogacar. The former won the slightly easier of the stages but had to give second best to Pogacar on Stage 4 when he was dropped on the last categorised climb of the day.

That certainly suggests that Pogacar is the stronger of the pair, but the way that each of the teams around them handles the stage will shape how it is going to unfold. This could be a stage that the teams searching for a breakaway win will want to have a go at.

Jonas Vingegaard was a disappointment in the individual time trial on Wednesday, and that clouds his current well-being after a solid third-place finish on Stage 4. He was also third on Stage 2, so he needs consideration here.

Oscar Onley has finished fourth and sixth on the two puncheurs stages so far and is one who might appeal to each-way backers at odds of about 34.00. He is only 22 years old and looks like an outright contender for future grand tours.
