Stage 3 of the 2025 Tour de France will see the riders cover 178km on what should be a sprinters' stage that is even flatter than Stage 1. The sprinters have to be the ones in our mind to make our prediction.
Crosswinds split the peloton in the opening stage, and that is a danger once more here. A couple of the big sprinters were caught out and were distanced, which means that they are going to have to be a little more active than they might otherwise like to be.
It was Jasper Philipsen who landed Stage 1 from Birian Girmay, the pair who fought out the green jersey overall last year. Jonathan Milan, Tim Merlier and Wout van Aert were all 39 seconds back
Philipsen will not have it so easy to add a second stage win, but his leadout train was perfect, and he won by a wide margin (for a sprint) into Lille. Girmay has looked off the pace all year and never really looked a threat.
Merlier has been the top sprinter in recent weeks while Milan has not had a happy couple of months. Both are going to be looking to make up for their misfortune on the opening stage.

- Stage 3 looks like one of the easier days on the tour and a natural one for the sprinters.
- Alpecin-Deceunick have impressed, winning both stages, and showing great team unity.
- Although a couple of his main sprinting rivals didn’t make the final sprint. Jasper Philipsen’s Stage 1 win was very easy.
- Stage 1 was Tour de France Stage win number 10 for Philipsen in his career.

This is a wide-open sprint contest. While Jasper Philpsen won Stage 1 comfortably, a couple of his main sprinting rivals were nowhere to be seen. Stage 3 is going to be a better guide of where the form of each of the green jersey hopefuls is.
Tim Merlier looked to be taking it easy on Stage 2, which suggests that he is going to be coming to Stage 3 all guns blazing, but he'll need to with the Alpecin-Deceuninck team looking supreme. With Stage 2 winner Mathieu van der Poel and strong sprinter Kaden Groves to lead him out. our Tour de France Stage 3 prediction is for Jasper Philipsen to win.
