Tomas Martin Etcheverry attempts to reach his fourth clay court quarter-final of the year. The 13th seed takes on unseeed Brandon Nakashima in round three of the Barcelona Open. Whoever wins this match will face either 12th seed Cameron Norrie or wild card Roberto Bautista Agut in the last eight. Etcheverry beat qualifier Nick Hardt in round two of this ATP 500 tournament after receiving a first round bye. He's currently 29th in the live rankings so is likely to be seeded at Roland Garros. The Argentinian is 44th in the Live ATP Race, ten places behind his opponent. Etcheverry has been going well on clay courts this year. He got to the last eight in both Cordoba and Buenos Aires and then the semi-finals in Houston. Last week saw him defeat Nicolas Jarry in Monte Carlo but then only won one game against eventual champion Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Brandon Nakashima caused a shock in the last round with a straight sets win over second seeded Andrey Rublev. Before that he'd beaten out-of-form Daniel Evans, again without dropping a set. The American is up to 34th in the ATP Race but is only 79th in the overall live list. He's had some good results in recent weeks with a run to the last eight of the US Clay Courts Championships in Houston, though he didn't beat anyone ranked in the top 80. Before that he'd reached a Challenger Tour hard court final. Nakashima has only won 20 matches on clay, that's compared to the 274 that his opponent has won. We go for Etcheverry to wiin this match.
