Two unseeded players meet in the first round of the Erste Bank Open in Vienna. Tomas Machac takes on Fabian Marozsan with the winner up against either third seed Grigor Dimitrov or Zhizhen Zhang next. Here's our match prediction.
Tomas Machac is ranked 27th in the latest published list and that's only two places below his career-high achieved earlier this month. Machac has been in good form of late with two hard court semi-finals reached in Tokyo and Shanghai.
That good run has included wins over Tommy Paul and Carlos Alcaraz. His most recent tournament saw him beaten in the last 16 in Almaty by Beibit Zhukayev.
Fabian Marozsan also set a career-high this year. In May he was as high as 36th but had slipped to 56th place in the latest rankins. The Hungarian hasn't won two successive matches in an ATP tournament since the Cincinnati Masters in August.
He lost in his first match in Almaty last week, losing to Borna Coric in straight sets. Before that, he reached the last 16 in Hangzhou but then withdrew from the tournament. This is his first match against Tomas Machac.
We don't expect him to win this and tip Machac to win in straight sets.
