Out-of-form Cristina Bucsa, the 31st seed at the French Open, starts her campaign with an opening round tie against the qualifier Susan Bandecchi. This is their first career meeting at tour level, and Bucsa's five straight defeats will not find favor in our prediction.

Susan Bandecchi has qualified for the main draw at the French Open for the first time. The 27-year-old had appeared in this event four times prior to this season and had lost each time in the qualifying rounds.

Cristina Bucsa is in desperate need of a win to halt an alarming run of results. The Spaniard hasn’t won a match since the opening round at Indian Wells and is on a five-match losing run.

This run has surprisingly affected her on clay courts, one of her most favored surfaces. She has lost all three matches she has played on clay, with the most recent setback coming in the opening round in Strasbourg.

This spiral has led her to drop out of the WTA top 30 and is now ranked 33rd. Bucsa, who defeated Bandecchi in their only other encounter, has lost in the first round three times in her last four appearances here.
