Unseeded Stefanos Tsitsipas will aim to cause another upset in the Qatar ExxonMobil Open. In the quarter-finals of this outdoor hard court tournament, he faces fifth-seeded and defending champion Andrey Rublev. Read our match prediction below.
There have been 12 previous meetings between these two players and they are level at 6-6. Rublev won the only match played on an outdoor hard court seven years ago. This is their first match since 2022.
Stefanos Tsitsipas has won both of his matches this week in straight sets. Round two saw him defeat fourth-seeded Daniil Medvedev. This is only his third time in Doha and his first quarter-final since 2018.
It’s also his first hard court singles last eight appearance since winning the Dubai tournament last March. Tsitsipas is now 30th in the live rankings.
Andrey Rublev will be trying to reach his second semi-final of the year, the other being achieved in Hong Kong. The Russian is a two-time winner of this tournament, winning it last year following up his 2020 success.
It’s obviously a venue he loves playing at and has reached another last eight without dropping a set. Wins have come against Fabian Marozsan and Jesper de Jong and he’s 19th in the live rankings. We tip him to beat Tsitsipas.

Our Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Andrey Rublev Prediction
This looks like being the best match in the quarter-finals of Qatar ExxonMobil Open. Stefanos Tsitsipas nearly retired last year but he’s injury free at present and starting to get some good results with a win over Daniil Medvedev in the last round.
Now he faces Andrey Rublev who is the reigning champion and has an excellent record in Doha. He’s made a steady start to the new year with this being his second semi-final. This could well be a three-setter but our main Stefanos Tsitsipas v Andrey Rublev prediction is Andrey Rublev wins.
