There’s an intriguing Czech First League Championship Round match this weekend between two of Prague’s top sides. Slavia Prague host Sparta Prague in a vital match between the two rivals in terms of the race for the Championship. Will our prediction favour the home team, Slaviste, or can the Maroons claim a morale-boosting derby match victory?

Ahead of the split for the Championship and Relegation rounds, Slavia Prague topped the regular season table with 78 points from 30 games. Sparta Prague finished fourth with 62 points from their 30 matches.

Both qualified for the Championship Division and have had mixed fortunes. Slavia’s superb form has continued with two wins, but Sparta Prague have lost both their matches in this final phase of the competition. Both still occupy the first and fourth spots in the table respectively.

Slavia Prague’s excellent regular season form continued into the Championship Round. They thrashed Sigma Olomouc 5-0 away from home in their first game and then came from 3-1 down last weekend to defeat Viktoria Plzen 4-3 at home.

In contrast, The Maroons form is poor. A 2-0 defeat away to Viktoria Plzen in their first Championship Round match was followed most recently by a 3-1 home reverse to FK Jablonec, leaving them the team in worst form in the six-team Championship Round.
