Perhaps surprisingly, Coco Gauff is in the fourth round of the US Open for the first time. The American takes on unseeded Shuai Zhang with the winner facing either 17th seeded Caroline Garcia or Allison Riske in the last eight. Gauff has slowly been making her way up the rankings. She began this tournament in 12th place but is up to ninth in the live rankings. Making it to the last eight will take her up to a career high seventh, not bad for an 18-year-old. Gauff is also enjoying great success in the doubles too. This year saw her reach her first Grand Slam final when losing to Iga Swiatek at Roland Garros. Gauff is yet to drop a set in this tournament and the third round saw her defeat 20th seeded Madison Keys for the loss of just five games. Of her six sets played, only one has seen her opponent win more than three games. There's been one previous match between the pair with Gauff winning this year in straight sets.

Shuai Zhang began the US Open ranked 36th in the world but is up to 29th in the live rankings. The 33-year-old made her Grand Slam debut in 2007 when Cori Gauff was only two years old. Her career high ranking is 23rd but that was achieved six years ago. This is her first time past the third round of the US Open in her third decade of playing the tournament. Recent form has seen her doing better in doubles, reaching the final at Wimbledon and she's one half of the reigning US Open women's doubles team. One singles title has been won this year, that was in Lyon in March but no top 60 ranked players were beaten. In the lead up to this event, the Chinese player has reached quarter finals in Cleveland and Cincinnati. Wins in New York have come against 30th seeded Jil Tiechmann, Anna Schmiedlova and Rebecca Marino. Go for Gauff to get the win here, a side bet on over 18.5 games can be a winner.
