Sheffield United welcome Leeds United to Bramall Lane on Sunday for a Premier League clash. The Blades have had an abysmal start to the season, losing their first two games without scoring a goal, leaving them 17th in the table. Leeds have done marginally better, winning one of their two games, with both matches finishing with a 4-3 scoreline. It leaves them 10th in the table. Despite being one of the surprise successes of last season, Sheffield United's poor form has gone under the radar. Scoring goals has been a problem for Chris Wilder's team since being promoted. They finished ninth largely off the back of their superb defensive record, their attack averaging 1.02 goals per game, only four teams in the top flight having a worse average. Finding the back of the net won't be a problem for Leeds this season. How high they finish will depend on well they can organise their defence.
Sheffield United's poor run in the league extends back to the tail end of last season, their five most recent league matches ending in defeat. A strong home record formed the backbone of their top-ten finish, losing only six of their 19 home games. Leeds have been impressive in the early weeks but they have also highlighted a number of weaknesses that could be exploited. Marcelo Bielsa encourages his defenders to play the ball out from the back and Sheffield United are known for their aggressive pressing. The two clubs have plenty of recent head-to-head experience having played in the Championship together for several seasons. Sheffield United have won four of the last five clashes. Three of those featured fewer than three goals. Back the Blades draw no bet.
