AFC Fylde will make the trip to Bramall Lane as the lowest-ranked team left in this year’s FA Cup but they are by no means the poorest. Based at the Mill Farm complex near the Lanchashire town of Kirkham and the Coasters are financed by wealthy local businessman David Haythornthwaite and other non-league clubs often turn their noses up as they think both Fylde and Salford are guilty of trying to buy their way into the football league, with Salford achieving that aim last season.
However, this step may be one they are not ready to take against a workmanlike Sheffield United side. With no wins in five the non-league side are now 21st in the National League North and are in danger of being relegated. Meanwhile, Sheffield United are 8th in the Premier League after a resounding return to the top-flight but they have lost their last two games albeit to Liverpool and Manchester City.
At home Chris Wilder’s side have lost just once since September whilst beating giants Arsenal and drawing with Manchester United since. They have conceded just 12 goals in 12 games at Bramall Lane this term and kept four clean sheets thus far. This won't be the strongest United line up though as Wilder has said he'll be making 11 changes from the team that lost to Liverpool on Thursday evening.
Away from home in the National League Fylde have won just three of 14 matches but both of their wins in the previous rounds of this cup came while playing away. A 2-0 win away at Kingstonian in the second-round followed a 1-0 win at Nantwich in their first game.
