Serena Williams still needs one more Grand Slam title to equal the record of 24 set by Margaret Court. It's been a long wait and her last title came in the Australian Open in January 2017. Since then, Serena has given birth to a baby girl and lost in three Grand Slam finals. That included last year's stormy US Open final where she lost to Naomi Osaka. Williams has made it to at least the semi-finals in her last nine appearances at the US Open.  A win in this match would take Williams into her 13th US Open semi-final. So far in this tournament, Serena has only dropped one set but she does have injury problems. Several times this year she has retired injured in a match and that has to be a concern.

Wang Qiang is having the best fortnight of her career. She's ranked 18th in the world and was as high as 14 in July. Her performances in Grand Slam tournaments hasn't been that impressive though. Her previous best was reaching the third round, but now Qiang is in her first Grand Slam quarter final. She caused a big upset in the last round when beating number two seed Ashleigh Barty. The Chinese player reached the semi-final of her last tournament but didn't beat a player in the top 50 to get that far. Her best performance of the year was in reaching the quarter finals of the Miami Open where she lost to Simona Halep after beating Johanna Konta in the last 64. She was scheduled to meet Serena but the American pulled out injured.  The suggested bet here is for Serena to win the first set, betting for the whole match might be a bit risky if she still has injury problems.
