Serena Williams is bidding to equal Margaret Court’s record number of Grand Slam singles wins and is looking good to achieve that. As was the case last year when she lost in the final, the top seeds have been toppling one by one and here, Serena has to face Barbora Strycova who is ranked 54th in the world. Williams has been getting better and better as this tournament has progressed. She had to battle hard to get past Alison Riske in her quarter final. Williams has an incredible record in Wimbledon singles semi-finals. This is her 12th and the only one the American has lost was the first way back in 2000.

Barbora Strycova is in her first Wimbledon singles semi-final and it may be her last match here. Strycova has been talking of retirement either this or next year and has beaten her previous best performance here of a quarter-final five years ago. She had a good preparation for this tournament reaching the last four in Birmingham but she's been in even better form at Wimbledon. Strycova has beaten three seeds including Johanna Konta in straight sets on Tuesday. These players have only had three previous meetings and all have been won by Williams. All three have been in Grand Slam tournaments and Williams has won them all in straight sets. That includes a win at Wimbledon, seven years ago. Williams can be backed to win this match.
