Serbia and Iran will lock horns in the final round of 16 matchup at the 2025 FIVB Volleyball World Championship on Tuesday afternoon. The winner of this match between the Eagles and Shiran Parsi will face either Tunisia or the Czech Republic in the quarter-finals. Let’s get into the match prediction. 

Serbia have bowed out of this competition at this stage in two of the past three editions, but they will be full of confidence here after topping the toughest group in the 2025 edition. 

After a shocking 3-0 defeat to the Czech Republic in their opener, the Eagles bounced back in style, crushing China 3-0 and Brazil by the same scoreline to clinch top spot on set ratio. 

Drazen Luburic was immense against the South Americans, recording 19 points, taking his tally in the tournament to 48 - the most for his team and ranked 14th overall. 

Meanwhile, a victory for Iran in this match could see them record their second-best finish at the World Championships. The only time they finished better than 13th was in 2014 (sixth).

The Princes of Iran were stunned by Egypt in their first match of the competition, but secured back-to-back wins over Tunisia (3-1) and the Philippines (3-2) to book their place in the knockouts. 

Poriya Hossein and Ali Hajipour combined for 44 points in the last match and are currently ranked 10th and 12th, respectively, in the leading scorer standings in the competition.
